His First Visit To His New School

Kyle starts school in just a few days!  He will be starting 6th grade at a brand new school, in a new school district.

New Pajamas

One of the pajama sets we bought for Kyle yesterday is Disney's Cars themed set. It has a picture of Lightning McQueen and Mater on the shirt and cute pictures of them on the pants. When it was time to get changed for bedtime, I brought the Cars pajamas over to Kyle and showed him and told him it was Cars! His daddy and I made it all exciting and kept saying "wow" and "ooh-ing and ahhh-ing." Kyle recognized the Cars pictures and he reached out for his new pajamas and that's when I said "it's time to get changed!" He ran over to the bedroom and couldn't wait to put them on!

The other set of pajamas are Thomas the Tank Engine and the other is basketball jersey themed.

My MIL's dryer is working again. Apparently it needed to be unplugged for 3 minutes and then turned back on! So, now it works again. I am doing a small load of laundry since I am home!

Arch Supports Work!

I wore my arch supports at work today. My shoes literally felt brand new and I felt like I was walking on clouds! My feet are sore, but I think they need to get accustomed to the arch supports.

I really enjoyed my 4 hour shift! It was so easy! I wish I had more shifts like that.

Food, Snacks, and Arch Supports

I had a nice short day at work today! I also have a short day tomorrow too! After work, I met up with Shannon in the store, he had Kyle in the shopping cart all buckled in. Kyle is always so good in the store, sits so quietly and looks all around at everything. He doesn't complain either.

I ended up getting arch supports for my shoes. Hopefully they will help with the pain, especially after working so many hours each day. I haven't had a pair of arch supports in years. The arch supports have a soft "massaging gel" on the bottom and feel very soft and cushion-y.

We bought some groceries and Shannon picked up a ton of snack foods! I guess they will help with my work lunches too. I could tell he didn't eat before he came to pick me up, he picked up so much junk food! LOL I also bought Kyle little containers of corn, peas, and green beans. They are packaged like pudding, in those little container cups. The veggies are microwavable, and very convenient. Kyle loves his veggies and this is perfect for us, we won't have to open a big can of veggies. They didn't have very much clothes in Kyle's size, so we ended up buying him 3 pairs of pajamas.

My MIL's dryer is not working for some reason, so we have to hang dry our clothes. She is trying to get someone to come out and check it out. It seems they always have something breaking down or needing to get fixed. I am doing a small load work clothes and some of Kyle's clothes and they will need to hang dry! LOL

Great Days Off

The last two days have been really relaxing! I have really enjoyed my days off. I was able to take a nap on both days, I can't believe I am tired by the middle of the day. I bought a few things online this weekend, all of which I really wanted to try or needed.

I have to go back to work tomorrow and am looking forward to this week's schedule. I have my part time hours. Although, there is one day this week where I have a 9 hour day! I have a 4 1/2 hour day tomorrow and we're going to go grocery shopping after my shift. We are also going to look at clothes for Kyle. There is a rack of toddler boys clothes for $3-$5 for shirts and shorts. Kyle only wants to wear shorts these days, and since we only have 3 pairs for him, we want to get a few more pairs.

Kyle has his screening at the preschool this week. I am not sure what it entails. I wish I could go, but I do have to work. Shannon can tell me how it goes. I just hope they have a spot open for him to attend, it sounds like they have a waiting list for this school.

Lunch Tote

I finally bought a lunch tote! I ended up buying one through a direct sales/home business. They offer really cute products and they even personalize them with your name or initials! You can see the one I bought below (it's circled in red). I am also having my name embroidered on it.

Can't Sleep

I woke up this morning around 3 AM and haven't been able to go back to sleep. I already treated myself to a green tea face mask! In addition to purchasing tea tree oil a few days ago, I also purchased some pure jojoba oil to use on my hair, nails, and skin! Jojoba oil has many uses and is beneficial for softer skin, shinier hair, and healthy nails. I can't wait to start using both products. I am turning to natural beauty products, rather than store bought things. I could spend a fortune buying many different products, instead, I am choosing to go natural and end up buying less.

I read about the following story last night about a girl who was kidnapped when she was 11! What is so crazy is that she and I are the same age! It's so sad to hear, but at least she can reunited with her mother after all of these years. Her story is so heartbreaking. I hope we can eventually hear her side of the story.

Mailed Out

Kyle's speech therapist called today, she realized that we never received a copy of her report from his initial therapy session. She went over it briefly with me, just explaining the main points and once we receive it, she will go over it with either of us. I also told her that Kyle has a screening next week with the preschool!

She also asked about the Medicaid and it reminded me to get the application filled out and sent out. I spent this morning getting it filled out and making sure I had everything included. It's been mailed out, they will probably contact me for more info though, since the application came with a huge packet to fill out. I wasn't sure what needed to be filled out. I was procrastinating with the Medicaid application!

I am enjoying my second day off in a row!! I also took a nap yesterday afternoon! LOL I work tomorrow and then I have another two days off!

The last two days I have treated myself to a homemade green tea mask. Lately I have had problems with pimples! So, I finally bought some tea tree oil. Tea tree oil has many uses, so I can't wait to try them! I was going to purchase tea tree oil through one of my home businesses but it was $24+! Instead, I found the same size bottle for about $8 on another site. I am trying tea tree oil for my pimples because I have tried the "store bought facial cleanser" products but they really didn't work for me. I really like that tea tree oil is all natural. I also love products that have multiple uses, like tea tree oil.

Screening

I received a call back from the Preschool. Kyle is scheduled to have a screening next Wednesday afternoon. I am not sure what their process is, but I think they said it was a 3 month thing! Shannon was the person who talked to them yesterday and then they called today and I was home to take the call and make the appointment.

I am assuming that after their screening they will have a better understanding of where he should be assigned within their preschool.

We were referred to this place by Kyle's speech therapist. I still haven't mailed in the Medicaid application. I am a little confused since they are asking for a "certified" birth certificate. I am not about to send Kyle's original birth certificate in the mail!

My Odd Day

Today I had to work at one of the two registers where customers can buy cigarettes and chewing tobacco. As a non-smoker, I have no idea what the difference is of cigarettes, nor am I familiar with the brands or types. Whenever a customer asked for certain cigarettes or chewing tobacco, I asked them what color it was and where it was located. LOL Luckily they were all understanding. I made light of my "not knowing" the differences of cigarettes. Whenever they did ask for a certain cigarette, I literally heard, "blah blah blah." Then I would ask them what color was it!

I made it pretty clear (in a friendly and joking way) that I do not like working in that area! One of the managers moved me to another register for the last hour of my shift since it was getting busy and backed up! She's a smoker and she knew I didn't smoke. So I was thankful for that.

I had Subway for lunch! It was good. I ended up buying some envelopes and batteries on my lunch break. I now have a working portable fan that I can bring to work!

Today is my Friday

Today is my Friday, since I have two consecutive days off! Yesterday was a long day but it seemed to go by fast since there were times when we were really busy. You could tell when church let out because that's when it started to get busy. I only have an 8 hour day at work today. I also bought a portable fan after work. The other cashiers use a fan at their register because it gets warm. Anyway, the fan was on clearance for only $3! I still need to buy batteries for it.

I've been bringing my lunch to work everyday for about two weeks and Shannon reminded me yesterday that I can get lunch at Subway. I decided to do that today since it's my Friday. I am still going to bring a few snacks to have on my breaks. I am looking at getting a lunch tote so I don't have to carry a big ziploc bag to bring my lunch in. LOL

I played Kyle his leap frog DVD last night and he loved it. He smiled throughout the whole movie. After it was over, I turned it off and we went to sleep.

My MIL took home a stray dog on Friday night. The dog has been seen around the neighborhood for at least 3 days. This dog has been in their backyard for the last few days. She tried calling the Humane Society, hopefully they will call her soon. It's a male golden retriever. Since they already have a dog, they take their dog out front to potty.

Saturday

Yesterday was my day off. I had a chance to relax and even take a nap in the afternoon. I did some cleaning and a few loads of laundry.

Shannon did a load of laundry for me today as well. I had an 8 hour day with an hour lunch. I have a 9 hour day tomorrow that I am not looking forward to it. Although, I am glad that I have 3 days off this week. As for pain, I am still feeling it after working so long. I did find that if I take an ibuprofen before work, I don't feel as much pain after work. Sad, but true!

I had to buy some things after work today. I needed more snack foods for my lunches that I bring to work. I also bought a few other things. I still don't have a lunch bag, many people use an insulated lunch tote. I haven't found one that I like. They has some out for "back to school" but they all have kiddie stuff on them.

Kyle's leap frog DVD arrived today! I've been playing it for him ever since I got home. I didn't pay a dime for this DVD, since I had enough amazon gift cards to get it. It was well worth it. He seems to like it. We don't have a DVD player, so I've been playing it on my laptop.

Kyle also has some new toys from his Grandma. This past week, she bought some race cars and a little race track and today Kyle had some new toy trucks.

As for his speech therapy, it's on hold for now. It turns out we have to reapply for Medicaid! UGH! Medicaid is also changing their policies that all applicants must submit a birth certificate, which is good I guess. I am confused with the application process because she included an application plus a big packet of other papers to fill out. So I may have Shannon go in with the paper to apply. In the meantime, Kyle's speech therapist called yesterday and gave me a number to a preschool with the school distract to get him a full evaluation. She said to keep on them because they get many referrals. His speech therapist also said she would call again and go over her report with us.

5 Hour Day

I was looking forward to today! I only have a 5 hour shift. I am off at 3:30 PM today, so I will still have time and energy to do whatever after I get home. I am going to try to squeeze in a workout after work. These days, I am only able to workout once or twice a week.

I am off tomorrow, which is even better!

I ended up buying two more pairs of pants at work during my lunch break. I bought a khaki color and a brown pair of pants. They were the same price as my other two pairs but they seem like they are made of better quality. I actually saw them on the rack while I was working, so that gave me the idea to take a closer look at them. I had to buy more pants because both of my other pairs need to be washed! I only have time to do laundry on my days off.

Yesterday was a long day, it was slower too. When it's slow, they want us to clean and make sure our work area is kept up. Other cashiers helped each other out when they don't have customers. They will help bag or load bags into carts if needed, which is really nice! I do the same if I don't have anyone.

Til 10 PM?

I have to work until 10 PM tonight. I hate working so late! I am looking forward to tomorrow's schedule and then Friday. I only have to work 5 hours tomorrow and then I am off Friday. Although, Friday will be another day for me to catch up on laundry and cleaning. I need to have Shannon help me with cleaning around here, since I hate having to do it one day a week while he's home all day.

I am getting sick of the color blue! I have to wear it at work and then I see fellow employees wearing it. The good thing about having a uniform is that I don't have to pick out something new to wear each day.

I did have something good happen yesterday. One of the "co-managers" said that I was doing a great job and she has seen how I am with the customers. She has also asked me a few times in the past how everything is going, which is good. Even the "customer service managers" ask how I am doing. Fellow cashiers are very helpful, which I appreciate.

Speakability called yesterday wanting to schedule a therapy session and Shannon told them the issues we are having with medicaid. I guess their insurance/medicaid rep called and left a message and Shannon didn't get the message until after 5 PM. We're going to wait until we get ahold of medicaid to call Speakability back. This morning, I called medicaid and left a message and they still haven't returned my call. I still have no idea why they need to talk to me (and only me), Shannon tried talking to her but she can only talk to me. Hopefully we can get this all straightened out so we can start Kyle's speech therapy.

Back to work

I worked a full 8 hours yesterday, plus an hour lunch. I have the same schedule today too. I dislike being away from home so long. My back didn't hurt as much yesterday, I guess that means my body is adjusting to all this work.

I bought Kyle a pair of sunglasses! He played with them for a bit last night. We're going to keep them in the car, so he can wear them in there only. My MIL also bought Kyle a little sandbox from a nearby neighbor who had it for sale. I haven't seen him play in it but it sounds like he's getting the hang of it.

Speakability called for me yesterday and I told Shannon that he'll need to call them back. I am away from home for most of the day. When I am at home, I just want to relax. Plus, I get home so late that it's after hours. I also have to call medicaid, unfortunately they can't talk to Shannon, only me! So I will have to call them on my day off or when I go in to work later in the day.

I saw my schedule for the last week of the month and I only have 31 hours, which is a huge relief. These long days and hours are exhausting. I don't have much time for myself.

DVD for Kyle

I finally saved up enough gift cards from Amazon and bought Kyle a Leap Frog DVD. The entire order cost me $0! I am hoping he'll like it, especially with all the fun songs that teach the alphabet.

Shannon said that he's let Kyle wear his sunglasses a few times. Kyle likes wearing them and looking at the world through them. He likes looking all around and he looks curious seeing things through the sunglasses. I am surprised he likes wearing them. I hope to get some sunglasses just for Kyle, he'll love that.

Kyle is getting used to me being gone for most of the day. He loves riding in the car, so when it's time, he's ready to go.

No Time

The last two days of work have been so tiring! I am working so much and such long hours, it's exhausting. By the time I get home, I just want to relax or just go to sleep. My back was hurting like crazy yesterday and today. But I found out that after I take a hot shower, my back doesn't hurt as much! I don't like having as much time with my husband and son. I feel like I barely see them anymore.

Thankfully, I have tomorrow off, but it's just one day off. I will be catching up on laundry and some cleaning as usual.

Shannon is still trying to get the hang of watching Kyle all day. He doesn't know how to multi-task, so when he watches Kyle, that's ALL he does. Finally, today he had Kyle in the computer room with him and there's a TV in there that Kyle can watch. He also had several of Kyle's toys in the room with him.

I talked to one of the customer service managers about my schedule and she said that I will get my part time hours. I am at full time because there is a lot of computer training to do. I have also realized that there is one manager that I do not care for. I do like all the other managers, just not her. She has this way of talking down to me, which I dislike. So I just do my job, smile, and don't say anything. I don't really have anyone at work that I can confide in. I don't really know anyone, and being the new person, I have to get to know everyone. I only confide in someone if I can trust them and know they won't say anything.

I did start bringing my lunch to work! I brought a lunch yesterday and today! I also bought some juice boxes to add to my lunch menu. I don't have a lunch bag yet, so I just use one of those big freezer ziploc bags for now.

9 Hours at Work

Yesterday was my day off from work. I actually got bored at home! I actually dislike these split days off, it's something that I am not accustomed to, especially after working in the hotel business for so long. I don't remember if I had split days off when I worked in retail about 10-11 years ago. I also don't like that fact that I am working full time hours. These long days are tiring. Thankfully I don't miss my husband and son too much.

This morning, Kyle was acting unusually mellow. He looked as if he was ready to go back to bed, he just seemed tired. We weren't sure if he was coming down with something, so he stayed home while Shannon dropped me off at work. Shannon also bought some children's tylenol, just in case.

Today I was scheduled for 9 hours with an hour lunch. I spent almost the entire shift on the floor. I was able to finish my computer training. Then I had to work the rest of my shift on the register. I pretty much worked about 4 or 5 hours on the register with another cashier helping me. When it was time for me to go home, I realized that my lower back was hurting! I am sore and exhausted! I have to work the same shift and hours tomorrow! UGH!

I haven't had the chance to buy a few more things to start bringing my lunch. I guess I'll just make a sandwich and bring a granola bar or two until we go shopping again. By the time it's time to go home, I just want to go home, not go shop!

Switching Places

Now that I am working [technically] full time, Shannon is now a full time stay at home dad. This will be a great opportunity for Shannon and Kyle to bond even more and spend some quality time together. It sounds like it's going to take him some time to get used to being a stay at home dad and get into a routine. Yesterday, as we were driving home, Shannon said that Kyle already had dinner and had a bath! I was so surprised, but then I realized that it was after 7 PM. I am very impressed that Shannon gave him a bath and made sure he ate dinner.

After getting home from work, I am tired and exhausted but I still have the energy to squeeze in a workout. As for chores, I plan on doing those on my days off. If I do have time, I tend do a little cleaning here and there.

I am still getting used to going from a stay at home mom for the last 3 1/2 years to a full time working mother! Both Shannon and I are getting used to our new roles!

The Car is Fixed

Our car is fixed! Tire Kingdom really came through for us. They fixed our car without charging us!! I am very impressed. They also gave Shannon a new gas flap door and told him to get it painted to the color of our car and bring it back to have them install it and they will reimburse us the cost of the coloring. Wow! Anyway, it turned our that the hoses that connect to the battery was corroded.

I am just glad that our car is fixed and working again! We didn't have to pay to have it towed, nor did we have to pay to have it fixed again!

Second Day

Today was my second day of work. I worked a full 7 hours, plus a full unpaid hour of lunch. It's been several years since I have worked in retail, and a great benefit of working in retail is that I now get my schedule 3 weeks in advance! In the hotel business, we would usually get our schedules the Friday before each week. We were spoiled in the hotel business because the hotel/casinos in Reno paid us for taking a lunch AND they would feed us for free!

All in all, retail is a big change from the hotel business. I definitely like knowing my schedule so far in advance! We did get our schedule for the next 3 weeks today and we all seem to have a FULL TIME schedule, even though we were hired for "part time." I think it was the company's way of skimping us and not having to offer health benefits after 90 days, instead we have to wait a year as part time associates. I guess it's good to have the hours, the money is always good! I am not complaining there.

Today we spent the majority of our time doing computer training. I had to bring a sweater because the training room is extremely cold, it was literally 55 degrees, if not colder. The last two hours of our shift, we were able to go out on the floor in our departments and work. I had a chance to observe/shadow another cashier! It looks overwhelming, I haven't worked as a cashier in so long!

I was assigned a locker today as well. It will be nice to have a place to put my stuff. I am already thinking about bringing my own lunch to work. I just don't have a lunch bag yet. I can already see it starting to add up with me buying lunch everyday. Every time I walk through the store I am "visually shopping," I am finding things I could buy or that we need! LOL

Great Monday!

Today was my first day of work at Walmart! We had orientation all day. There were only 4 of us, 3 of them were guys, I was the only female (besides the trainer). We have orientation all day tomorrow as well.

I learned a lot about Walmart. I won't be eligible for benefits until I have been there 1 year, only because I am part time. I do have the option for discounted health benefits, but I don't think I will be getting that. I also don't have access to the employee discount until after 90 days, they will send me my discount card in the mail.

I ended up having Subway for lunch, since there is one right in the store. It was nice because I got a little discount, so the $5 meal combo was exactly $5! Once I get established and out of orientation/training, I will look into bringing in my own lunch to work.

I tried going back to work full time when Kyle was about 7 or 8 months old and this time around, I didn't worry about Kyle as much! This time around, I thought about him and missed him, but I wasn't worried. This time, he wasn't at a daycare being watched by strangers, he was at home with his daddy and Grandma. Plus he is older and can feed himself. I am not worried about Shannon giving him junk food all day, because I have reminded him over and over. LOL

Shannon got some really good news today! He won his case, which means he's back on unemployment and hopefully he can get the extended benefits. The panel of judges ruled fully in his favor!

Our car was successfully towed to Tire Kingdom. Shannon talked to one of the guys there about the car and they remembered the part for the gas flap door. They also stated it was the battery that was dead, but we just bought a brand new battery FROM THEM in June! Shannon thinks it may be the alternator that isn't working correctly which could affect the battery.

Tax Free Weekend

Our State is one of the states offering a "tax free weekend" on certain items, such as clothing, school supplies and some electronics. I was able to get 2 pairs of pants (one khaki and one light brown) and 2 [different shades of] blue shirts for work, without being charged taxes! I am only starting our with 2 of each for now. I want to wait until I receive a check or two before I worry about expanding my wardrobe.

We also bought groceries! I used our one of our WIC coupons to get a few things. Walmart was pretty busy, especially with all the moms and kids shopping for school supplies.

Shannon has a busy day tomorrow. The car is being towed to Tire Kingdom between 2 PM and 2:30 PM by our insurance company. The tow is covered by our insurance, which a bit of a relief. He also needs to call Medicaid to find out if Kyle is still covered in our county. We received a notice stating he was no longer covered in our previous county. I don't remember receiving a new Medicaid card for this month.

Saturday, August 8, 2009

Start Monday!

I just got a call from Walmart! I am starting orientation on Monday morning! I am so excited. It's going to be an all day thing, which I don't mind. We're going shopping tomorrow, I need clothes for work.

Car Issues

Shannon tried starting the car earlier today and it wouldn't start! This is perfect timing, since I (hopefully) start a new job next week! We'll have to use my MIL's car in the meantime. I called our insurance company to have it towed. Shannon wanted to wait until Monday, so I set it up for then. He's having it towed to the same place that broke our gas flap door, they never fixed it by the way. So he's going to have them fix it when it gets towed there. I think it's a bad idea to have THEM fix our car, I don't like the way they do business.

Cell Phone

Yesterday I finally signed up for a free cell phone from SafeLink. They offer cell phones for free to low income families who receive food stamps, medicaid, etc. They also provide free minutes each month. I checked the status of my application and it has been approved. My cell phone will be sent out to me within 5 to 10 days.

Meanwhile, Shannon and I may still get another cell phone. If they offer Cricket out here (or something similar), we'll go through them.

I admit, I am not familiar and up-to-date with all the latest cell phones. I don't even know the difference between and iPhone or a blackberry or what features they offer. I honestly don't care! I don't understand how people will stand in line just for a phone. Shannon and I haven't really had a cell phone since the flip phones came out. I wouldn't even know how to take a picture with a cell phone. Yesterday, a fellow new hire offered to let me use her cell phone to call Shannon. She handed it to me and said, "You have to open it to turn it on." Of course, not knowing what the heck to do, I kind of fumbled with it and tried flipping it open thinking it may be a flip phone. Finally I handed it back to her saying I have no idea how to do that! LOL The type of phone she had opened up like the one below. Although it didn't have the keyboard, and the keypad was on the front of the phone.

Back to Walmart

I had to report back to Walmart this morning to fill out more paperwork. Then I had to go take a drug test. They are also going to do a background check. They said they want us to start either Monday or Tuesday! I just can't wait to officially start working again. Walmart sounds like a really good company to work for. I feel very thankful to get hired (pending the drug test and background check), especially in this economy. Walmart is growing, expanding, and opening new stores.

Shannon said he was surprised my drug test was so quick. He said he's had to wait 3 hours before just to take a drug test! LOL It was probably a quick thing because not as many companies are hiring these days?

Shannon and I briefly talked about possibly getting a cell phone. Walmart sells phones, so I could probably get one through them with the employee discount.

Interview for Walmart

I had my interview with Walmart today. I had to wait 15 minutes before they called me in, they did apologize and said they were running behind, which I understand. They are going to make a job offer to me, but I have to go back in tomorrow morning! LOL The manager who is going to do that was at lunch at the time. The interview process was more formal than I thought. I had 3 different people sitting in on the interview and one person asking the questions (there were only about 6 or 8 questions). Then they did a second interview with the manager, both interviews took about 20 minutes total. Then they wanted me to go out to the registers and observe a cashier doing the job. That way, it gives the candidate a chance to determine whether or not the job is for them or not. It was pretty busy at the registers! Busy is good, it makes your shift go by much quicker. Every time we have gone to Walmart, it's busy at the registers!

I've been a cashier at Target before and they were never busy everyday. They were usually busy on the weekends. But then again, Target doesn't have a grocery side to it. I am sure more than ever, more people are shopping at Walmart for everything they need.

I have never worked here in North Carolina, so this will be interesting. From what I hear, the people are different from what I am used to and have grown up with, they have different standards. You have to watch what you say, they are all (or at least most of them are) church-going people. I am expecting a culture shock. Although, the people here are really nice here.

Also, it sounds like I won't have to take a drug test either! Shannon said it seems to be a common thing, that employers don't require drug tests!

While I was waiting to be interviewed, I wanted to find out what the dress code is. Their uniform is khaki pants and a dark blue, blue, or navy blue shirts. Pretty easy. I happen to not have either, so I will need to buy a few pants and shirts. Target required khaki pants and red shirts. Also, I saw employees wearing sneakers, so I am happy about that. I want to be comfortable at work.

New Books!

Kyle now has new books to play with and look through. His grandma bought some books from a used children's clothing store. The books were between 25 cents and 50 cents. There are many different kinds of books, different sizes, different themes. I was surprised that he seems to recognize a Barney book. Whenever I see Barney on, I turn it on for Kyle. He'll watch it here and there, but it doesn't seem to be a favorite show of his.

Spoof Video

If you recall, I posted a wedding video that was all over the web and on the news! Here's the video again:

Well, here's a spoof "divorce" video of the original:

Here's the article for more info about the above video! Enjoy!

Interview Rescheduled

My job interview was rescheduled for tomorrow afternoon. The personnel lady called me this morning about an hour before my interview to say there was a schedule conflict that she was unaware of. I had no problem rescheduling. Shannon was already up when she called.

Shannon is already on his third college course. He got an "A" on his last class! He was surprised because he was sure he was going to get a "B."

My MIL is growing sunflowers in the backyard. They are so pretty. They are the big sunflowers and they are at least 10 feet tall. We admire them each day.

Lazy Sunday

We spent today just relaxing and spending time as a family. I did a few loads of laundry today. I also had to find my dress shoes and also found more of my dress pants, which needed to be washed. I am just glad I have everything ready and washed. I already figured out what I am going to wear for my interview.

Disney's Cars was on TV today, so I turned it on for Kyle. The second he heard it, he ran over and started watching it. Shannon and I ended up watching it too since it had been awhile since we've seen it. It's a cute movie!

It's been a lazy day for all of us. I hope to get back into swing of things tomorrow.

I think I may have found what developmental delay Kyle may have. I am not sure, but Shannon and I are talking about it more and more and trying to figure it all out. Although, I should say that he has not been officially diagnosed by a doctor, nor have we received word from his speech therapist regarding her observations and test results. The other day, I was looking at getting a Leap Frog DVD for Kyle. One of the customer comments lead me to research a certain developmental delay. I looked up the symptoms and they sound a lot like Kyle. Soon after, I read them out loud to Shannon to see if he noticed them too. Since then, I have been reading more about it. With this certain disorder, most parents don't notice a problem until their child isn't progressing as other children are. This disorder is usually diagnosed around the age of 3. This is the first site that I found that was very informative. I found this second site that has a lot of great information. As I read through these sites, I realized that the questions the speech therapist was asking us were for her to make a general conclusion to a certain disorder/delay.

I hope to get the Leap Frog DVD very soon! As soon as I receive the amazon gift card from one of my websites that I use, I will get it! The DVD teaches the alphabet in a fun animated movie, they have catchy songs for each letter. The customer comments were positive and the kids really enjoyed watching it over and over. Kyle loves music and songs, so I hope he will like this DVD.

Job Interview!

I am so excited! I received a call from Walmart. I have an interview next week for a part time position as a cashier!!! Yes, it's only part time, but at least its a paying job! As I recall, Walmart was not the best employer, at least it wasn't 9 or 10 years ago when I worked there. But it doesn't bother me, as long as the follow the laws, I am fine. If I am unsure of something they are doing, I will run it by Shannon, he loves looking up laws and translating them for me. Walmart is a Fortune 500 company, it's here to stay and just about everyone shops there nowadays. With the economy the way it is, there seems to be job security there since you can buy just about anything and everything you need there.

I haven't really worked since becoming a Mom. I did work for a few days when Kyle was around 7 or 8 months and that was really hard for me because I was so attached and bonded to him. Back then, I didn't like being apart from him, he was and still is my whole world. Now that he's older, and he has a Daddy that actually wants to spend time with him, I won't have to worry.

My dress shoes are still packed away. Thankfully, I have some "interview appropriate" clothes that aren't packed away.
