Greetings from Las Vegas, NV

We're finally here in Vegas! We started our drive from Carson City, NV at 9:30am. We made a few stops along the way to eat and stretch out a bit. It's not easy traveling with a toddler who wants to play, walk, run, etc. We didn't have a hotel reservation for Vegas so we ended up staying at a hotel we've stayed at the last time we were here in 2004! Back in 2004, we were considering moving here and we took the weekend to check out the area. Instead, it just ended up being a mini-vacation.

Anyway, the room is beautiful! The beds look so comfy and luxurious! We also have free high speed internet access so I am happy about that.

My husband will be checking out hotels.com or any of the other hotel sites for discounts on hotel rooms.

About 30 miles outside of Las Vegas, our gas light came on and we were started to freak out that we wouldn't make it to the gas station. The drive to Vegas is basically desert with a two lane highway. Plus we had our son with us who was getting fussy and wanted to run and play. Luckily, we made it to Durango and made it safely to a gas station!

More Packing

We are finishing up our packing today. All of our clothes, except the ones we packed for the road are all packed up too. I also put together the plants I am taking with us.

This afternoon, our son was playing around in the living room while we were packing. He was entertaining himself, which is RARE these days since he's so curious and loves to explore where he's not supposed to.

My husband is going to unplug the TVs and the computers tonight. I am glad we decided to get a cell phone, just in case something happens while on the road. We are bringing the laptop with us, so hopefully we'll find Wi-Fi access.

Tomorrow will be the very last day for packing. My husband and his friend will pack the furniture, computers, and the TVs. I will be spending the day in a hotel room with our son. The hotel has free wireless internet access, so I hope to log on!

The last few days, I've been advertising my home businesses again. It's a new month, which means new sales! Please visit my website at: http://www.ItsYourTurn.go.cc

The Pod is Here

The pod arrived this afternoon around noon. It doesn’t look very big but my husband said it’s definitely big enough to hold all of our stuff. I also called all but one of our utility companies today.

We’ll be packing more tonight. I am having a hard time choosing which clothes I am taking with us on the road. LOL Plus my bag isn’t that big… I also have to pack our son’s clothes soon too.

I have a lot of houseplants but I am only taking a few of them plus all of the babies.

Started Packing

We started packing this afternoon. My husband is in a packing mood right now. The Pod is supposed to come tomorrow, which means we can start moving our stuff into it. My husband has also packed his bag with clothes for our long trip. I still have to pack my bag and my son's bags.

We're hoping to leave by this coming Friday! Tomorrow I plan on calling all of our utility companies to have them shut off our services.

Remember when you were a kid?

Remember when you were a kid, you could fall asleep anywhere? Well our little man finally turned this new leaf this week. The other day, my husband was taking a nap and he woke up from our son sitting next to him in bed. Anyway, my husband pulled our son down so that he was lying on his chest. Our little guy fell asleep right there. When my husband got up from the bed, our DS just flipped over to the other side of the bed and kept sleeping.

Then tonight, our DS fell asleep in my arms as I was lying down on the couch watching tv.

I am so glad knowing that our son can fall asleep just about anywhere, especially with our upcoming road trip across the U.S.

Now it feels REAL

My DH ordered our POD today. It should be here by the 5th of November. Once it gets here, we’re going to start packing it up with our stuff. Once we are done packing our stuff in the POD, we can call them up to have them pick it up and they will delivery it to our new address. Today, my DH is getting some boxes, and cashing in our bucket of change! He is also getting our watch batteries replaced, since we need our watches on the road.

We’ve made lists of what we need to bring with us in the car as well as what we’re packing in the POD. There are a lot of other things we have to do like call the utility companies, and have our mail forwarded to our new address. I will be making sure these things get done and my DH does the big stuff.

I also went through some of my clothes and threw away anything I don’t wear anymore. This was very difficult for me since I am such a pack-rat! LOL I am sure I can trim my closet a little more.

It will take us about 7 days (possibly more) to drive to the East Coast, so we’re going to pack at least 2 weeks worth of clothes. We are also traveling with a toddler, so we are planning our trip around HIS schedule. LOL

I am taking our laptop with us in the car, so I am hoping we can find some Wi-Fi areas to log on to the internet.

Auto Insurance

I emailed our insurance lady yesterday regarding our bill. Two months ago, it shot up $14. It usually goes up $2 or $3 every year but the $14 was a big jump. We have not gotten into any car accidents or anything…so I was confused as to why our bill went up. Anyway, our insurance lady basically said that their company is losing business and there have been a LOT of accidents in our zip code – that is why they had to raise our rate! GRRRRR!

Anyway, we plan on switching auto insurance companies as soon as we can. I don't want to OUT the company that we are with but it does rhyme with LARMERS! What sucks is that we've been with the same insurance lady for over 4 years now… I am just confused as to why our rate keeps going up! LOL In the 4 years we've been her customer, we have NEVER gotten into any accidents…
