Today was my second day of work. I worked a full 7 hours, plus a full unpaid hour of lunch. It's been several years since I have worked in retail, and a great benefit of working in retail is that I now get my schedule 3 weeks in advance! In the hotel business, we would usually get our schedules the Friday before each week. We were spoiled in the hotel business because the hotel/casinos in Reno paid us for taking a lunch AND they would feed us for free!
All in all, retail is a big change from the hotel business. I definitely like knowing my schedule so far in advance! We did get our schedule for the next 3 weeks today and we all seem to have a FULL TIME schedule, even though we were hired for "part time." I think it was the company's way of skimping us and not having to offer health benefits after 90 days, instead we have to wait a year as part time associates. I guess it's good to have the hours, the money is always good! I am not complaining there.
Today we spent the majority of our time doing computer training. I had to bring a sweater because the training room is extremely cold, it was literally 55 degrees, if not colder. The last two hours of our shift, we were able to go out on the floor in our departments and work. I had a chance to observe/shadow another cashier! It looks overwhelming, I haven't worked as a cashier in so long!
I was assigned a locker today as well. It will be nice to have a place to put my stuff. I am already thinking about bringing my own lunch to work. I just don't have a lunch bag yet. I can already see it starting to add up with me buying lunch everyday. Every time I walk through the store I am "visually shopping," I am finding things I could buy or that we need! LOL
What is Crunchy? "Green;" environmentally-friendly. I love green cleaning and making my own laundry soap!

As you can probably tell from the blog title, our visit did not go as planned. First, let's start from the beginning.

I just need to vent a bit… Just a little advice ~ If you want someone to purchase from a business that you represent, don’t be RUDE to them!...
