Today is Halloween and we're staying in tonight. We don't do the trick or treating or dressing up since Kyle probably won't be into it. I don't think he would like the "scary" stuff, nor could we ever go to a Haunted House with all the screaming and scary sounds. Which reminds me, I love the show Parenthood on NBC, one of the families has a son who has autism. Here is a scene that I could relate to, where the mother is explaining Halloween to Max. She is preparing him to what can happen at Halloween and how it all works. In their case, Max is afraid of fire (whereas Kyle is afraid of scary noises/screaming). I can relate to what the family goes through with their son Max. There was a particular scene where she was asking her husband to pick up a certain type of cereal for Max, otherwise he won't eat his cereal, it had to be a certain kind.
Also, Kyle doesn't like putting on just any clothes, he would literally struggle if I had to put something different on him and if I did manage to get it on him, he would take it right off.
We were going to do the same as we did last year, pick up some Chinese food and eat it at home, but we had a big lunch and there's even food left over. I also "made" Double Chocolate Chip Cookies that I bought from Kyle's school fundraiser. I made a small batch yesterday as well and Shannon loved them! They are really good and gooey!
What is Crunchy? "Green;" environmentally-friendly. I love green cleaning and making my own laundry soap!
His First Visit To His New School
Kyle starts school in just a few days! He will be starting 6th grade at a brand new school, in a new school district.

Happy Halloween and Happy November
Yesterday was Halloween! It rained all day and evening! The rain didn't stop the kids, we saw some parents drive their kids down each street! We didn't hand out any candy, my in-laws decided long ago not to since their dog goes bonkers every time the door bell rings or he sees someone coming up to the door. Like last year, my in-laws ended up going out to see a movie. Last night they went to see Couples Retreat. When they got back, they said it was the "worst movie [they] have ever seen." I guess the only "funny" parts were in the trailer. I don't like Vince Vaughn nor would I care to see his movies, he's not that funny.
Instead of handing out candy or going out, we ordered Chinese food and enjoyed it at home. Shannon came home with a heavy bag of food, he kept saying I ordered too much. I wasn't sure what sizes to get, so I got the bigger of the two sizes they offered. Plus, leftovers aren't so bad!
I can't believe it's November already. Shannon's birthday is in 14 days. We're thinking about getting him a vanilla ice cream cake, probably from Baskin Robbins.
Today I watched two movies. The first was Mr. & Mrs. Smith with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. It was pretty good. I also saw Premonition with Sandra Bullock. I remember seeing the trailer for it a few years ago and wanting to see it. It reminded me of the movie The Butterfly Effect because it kept switching to the past and the present.

Interview Day
Shannon has his job interview this afternoon. It turns out that according to mapquest, the hotel is only 4 1/2 hours away. Shannon still left early this morning. He wasn't sure if he would hit the morning commute on the way there. He may not have to stay overnight if it's only 4 1/2 hours away.
Work was steady. There were several people buying last minute Halloween costumes. I also heard a little tidbit going around. There were a few cashiers who requested Halloween off so they could take their kids trick or treating and they were all DENIED the day off! Yet here I am with the day off! I actually have that weekend off!

Happy Halloween!
Shannon called to say that he is working until 2am, which is perfect since he got off early last night. Kyle and I are staying in tonight, he’s not really into candy and I don’t think he would understand why his mommy would dress him up in a costume.
Kyle’s been practicing using his voice a lot more these last few days. I haven’t heard back from the doctor’s office about the referrals or scheduling our next appointment.
Shannon has split days off next week. We’re still planning on going to Chuck E. Cheese. I am curious to see how Kyle will react about being able to run, play, and climb. I read on the Chuck E. Cheese website that they have a toddler section so I am hoping there will be other kids his age there. I am hoping that once he sees other kids his age talking, that he may try even more to talk.
