His First Visit To His New School

Kyle starts school in just a few days!  He will be starting 6th grade at a brand new school, in a new school district.

Home early from school

We received a call from Kyle's teacher, he was crying all morning.  They were trying everything to calm him down.  We ended up picking him up after only 2 1/2 hours of being in school.  We're looking at having Kyle go to school for 5 days a week instead of 3 days.  His teacher said we will have the IEP meeting at the end of this school year so he'll be ready for next school year.  This will give us more time to ourselves and Kyle more time at school!

On the way home, Shannon wanted to make a few stops.  I saw a big "now hiring" sign and it turned out to be for a new Dairy Queen that is currently being built.  I asked Shannon what he thought about me applying there and he said I should!  At first, I was a little worried about it being right next to/attached to a gas station, but Shannon didn't seem to be worried about that.  I have a pen pal who started working at a Dairy Queen a few months ago and she loves it!  I have been applying for jobs for the last two weeks and still no calls.  I know that it is difficult to get a job out here because of the economy and because employers seems to want to hire family or friends.

My in-laws are going on a little vacation this weekend.  They are leaving on Sunday and will be gone for at least 3 days.

I am still working out with the kettlebell!  I love it.  I haven't even touched my other workouts in the last few weeks.   I am still on the same workout that is only 20 minutes.  I am still getting tired about halfway through it, so I am glad it is still a challenge for me.  I have even started doing an extra 10 minutes of a different DVD workout in the set!

Day 3 of Kettlenetics

Today was Day 3 of my new workout program, Kettlenetics!  I've been sore ever since yesterday!  The first day was just learning the moves and the second and third day, I did the first workout!  It's about 20 minutes, which doesn't sound like much, but it is!  I've been having to stop about halfway through to catch my breath but I get right back into it as soon as I can.  I am taking my time learning the moves.

I looked at the other DVDs in the set and they look like they are getting harder!  LOL  There is a 47 minute workout, which I will probably end up doing sections of it.  I am loving this change in my workouts!

I had to call again

Kyle had school yesterday!  He's still not feeling well.  He doesn't eat much when we do try to feed him.  While he was at school, I called Speakability and asked for "what's her name" and she ended up answering the phone!  I told her that I called her two weeks ago and called her again last week.  She already knew who I was and said she received my messages.  Apparently the speech therapists that are in our area are either on maternity leave or getting ready to come back from maternity leave.  Plus a lot of the speech therapists have a "full plate" of clients.  She said she would call me or have the speech therapist call me when there is one available, hopefully in the next couple of weeks.

I received my kettlenetics set!  It arrived just before I had to pick Kyle up from the bus stop (which is down the street).  I had enough time to unpack it and quickly look through what came in the set.  I had a chance to try the first DVD where she walks you through each move. I didn't realize how "dance-y dance" it was, but the person who created this workout is a dance professional!  But overall, it looks fun to learn and motivating.  I am glad it isn't what I was expecting because I don't want all my workouts to be the same stuff.

I applied for another job last night.  I am looking forward to possibly going back to work again.  There are some people that we live with that I am annoyed with.  If only we could have our own place to live!  Unfortunately that won't be happening for at least a year to a year and a half!

Not Feeling Well, More College, and Back To Work

I've been asking Shannon to let me know when he thinks it would be a good time for me to go back to work.  I have to admit, I've been a little bored, but trying to enjoy being at home full time.  A part time job would be nice, especially for the extra income.  I am not sure if I want to go back to Wal-Mart because I had such a crazy schedule.  I was working up to 33 hours a week, which is much more than I wanted.  I also didn't like having split days off.  I just felt I was never home.  I will re-apply at Wal-Mart as a last resort.  Don't get me wrong, I do miss my co-workers, the people were nice!  Today, I applied online to two different places.  Hopefully either one will call!  Shannon seems to want me to go back to work at Wal-Mart since we always shop there anyway.

Shannon has been looking closer at his college and he needs 21 more units than he thought, in order to graduate.  Which means a year and a half of classes.  He was thinking that if I am working, he could double up on classes so he can graduate sooner.  He wants to graduate as soon as he can!

Kyle came home from school on Friday looking tired.  We thought he was tired, but it turns out he's not feeling well.  He woke up this morning (Saturday) at around 5:45 AM coughing and then threw up!  I could tell he didn't eat at all on Friday!  He threw up one more time a few hours later.  He's still not feeling well.  He hasn't eaten much today, but still drinks water!  He even took a nap this afternoon.  I had to wash the sheets and bedspread today!

She hasn't called you back?!

I called Speakability again today since it's been almost a week since I called to leave a message with the person who answered the phone.  The lady that answered today even remembered that I called before!  She sounded surprised that "what's her name" hadn't returned my call!  So I left my information again, let's see if she'll call me.

Kyle went to school today!  I sent him to school with an order for his school pictures.  I ordered their "most popular package" since it was so hard to decide, plus it was at a decent price.  He came home with an easter basket that was made by the local high school students!  It has more toys than candy, which is good!  One of the toys was bubbles, so I took that out and played with Kyle.  He LOVES bubbles!  He loves trying to pop them!  I took him outside to play with them but it was windy so the bubbles were going in every direction too fast for him.  I'll have to wait another day until there is little to no wind.

Shannon received his last shipment of LSAT study materials he ordered.  He's been reading through his books since he received them.  He officially registered to take the LSAT in early June!!!  I am so glad that the books are giving him so much confidence!  They are full of tips and methods to help take the test. He wanted to register as early as he could for the test in June because there are only a certain number of spots available to take the test.  If they are all gone, he would have to wait until the next one.

I've been wanting to try a different type of workout using kettlebells.  I saw an infomercial for "kettleworx" and after reading the reviews on amazon, they were mixed.  They were saying he doesn't show the correct way to do the exercises AND he doesn't do the same amount of reps on each side of the body.  For example, he'll work the right arm 23 times and the left arm 19 times.  Some people were bothered by that, which I can understand.  I found that QVC sold kettleworx, but while looking at it, I saw someone mention another program called "kettlenetics."  I looked further at the product and found that it was customer top rated which told me something.  I ended up getting that set to start with!  I was impressed with the QVC price and what you get with the set!

Studying for LSAT, Dr. Appointment, Plant Fever

Kyle had another doctor appointment, this time it was with an "ear, nose, and throat" doctor.  Before seeing that doctor, Kyle saw the audiologist and he gave him a hearing test again.  He said his hearing looks to be in the normal range.  The "ear, nose, and throat" doctor looked into Kyle's ears.  He said he's going to send over the test results to Kyle's pediatrician as well.  As we left the doctor office, they gave me a piece of paper for billing (to give to the appointment setter) and it said they are going to bill our insurance (medicaid) $418!!

I still haven't heard back from Speakability.  I called them last Thursday and left a message with the person who answered the phone.  I need to call them again and set something up!  Kyle needs private speech therapy.

Since Shannon received some of his study materials for the LSAT test, he's started reading through the books.  He feels better and more prepared to take the test.  They give him tips and tricks on taking the test.  He's learning other ways to answer the test questions too.  He's still waiting on another shipment of practice tests.

I received my curly spider plant that I won on ebay today!  It's bigger than I thought it would be.  For now, it's in the pot that I bought for it.  I plan on getting a bigger pot.  I removed the babies (there were 9 of them) that came with it and planted them in other pots of plants!  I also gave two [of the nine] babies to my MIL.  She has them in her office/sitting room that is attached to their bedroom.  I also re-potted my solid green spider plants with fresh potting soil!  They are getting too big for the small pot they are in.  Once I get another pot, I can separate them and give them more room.

Back to School

Kyle went back to school today!  He was out of school for over a week!  It was nice to have him at school!  I am a little disappointed that they didn't save an Easter basket or easter eggs for him.  We had sent him to school with a big bag of easter eggs and 3 bags of candy for the kids and he received none of it!

A few weeks ago, they took pictures at school and they sent an envelope home with a sample picture of how they turned out.  He looks so cute in his picture!  Now we just have to decide which package to buy!  I don't know how they got him to sit still long enough to take his picture!  LOL

I received half of my order from Walmart today.  I ordered some colorful short sleeved tops, which I need for summer.  The only short sleeved tops I have are all blue, and they were from when I was working at Walmart!  I am waiting for the other half of my order, which should arrive tomorrow.

Shannon is getting ready to take the LSAT test.  He's aiming to take it in June.  He ordered some study materials and some of them arrived today.

I am still waiting for the plant I won on ebay to arrive, it looks like it will arrive tomorrow.  I am ready to pot up my new plant in a permanent home!

Switching Things Around

Today I have been busy!  I plan on deleting at least two of my email accounts.  I created a personal email account within a current account.  I've been trying to switch everything over to the new email account.  It's so much work!

Other than that, we had nice weather today!  Kyle goes back to school tomorrow!

I joined a new mineral makeup company yesterday!  Feel free to visit my site!  I also received a company email address!

What a Day!

Last week I bought melatonin for Shannon.  He would always have trouble falling asleep.  He would stay up for a few hours just laying in bed.  His mom takes melatonin to fall asleep and plus it's all natural.  He's been taking it all this week and he falls right to sleep!  I tried it the first night with him and it relaxes your body to where you feel like you are glued to the bed.  I think it's a little too strong for me because it made me tired the next day and into the night.  It actually didn't help me STAY asleep, I woke up a few times throughout that night.  So, now he's sleeping better!

We went to Walmart this afternoon.  We bought our normal groceries.  I also bought a few more pots for my plants and also some potting mix.  This time around, I bought "miracle gro" brand potting mix.  In the past, I always bought another brand.  Hopefully "miracle gro" is as good as it's commercials say it is.  When we got home, I potted up the plants into more permanent homes (in their new pots).

At the last minute, I picked up a 3 pack of air freshener product by Renuzit.  When I was working as a cashier, I always saw people buying this particular product and wanted to try it.  I bought "after the rain" scent.  I have one in our bathroom, one in our bedroom, and one in Shannon's office/computer room/man cave.  Since I don't want to burn my soy candles upstairs (especially around Kyle), I figure why not try an air freshener like this!  I am not a fan of the spray air fresheners because all of the chemicals and Renuzit says they use 97% natural ingredients.

I can't believe it's Friday already.  That means Kyle goes back to school on Monday!  This week has been a great for us, we've had time to recharge and Kyle had a chance to get better from being sick.

Time for LSAT

Shannon has started looking into taking the LSAT test, which helps him get into Law School.  He ordered some study books, materials, and practice tests.  The LSAT is given 4 times a year.  The next LSAT test is in June, and he would have to register by May 7th.  He's considering taking it then.

In the 70s

What a difference the weather is today, compared to the rest of the week!  Today we're in the 70s, yet on Monday and Tuesday we were in the upper 80s.  It's definitely a nice change!  It's overcast and a slight breeze.

I called Kyle's speech therapist last week and she advised me to call the main office later this week and talk to a particular person.  She is unable to take Kyle on because her caseload is already full!  I called the office and left a message, hopefully we can get Kyle a new caseworker and get him going on speech therapy!

In February, we tried re-applying for food stamps.  It turns out, they needed additional documentation from us.  At the time, we were unable to provide one piece of paperwork needed.  Today, we finally received what we needed to send to them.  However, we were unsure if we could qualify for food stamps since we just received a nice chunk from Uncle Sam, aka the US Treasury.  I called our caseworker to see if it would affect our application and she said it wouldn't, as long as we could prove that it was indeed from our taxes.  I gathered all the paperwork needed and had Shannon fax them to DSS (Department of Social Services).  Now we wait to see if we are approved

Yes and No

Yesterday, Kyle started saying "No!" and "Yes" at the appropriate times!  When we asked him yes or no type of questions, he would answer us!!!!  His "yes" sounded more like "yuh."  I think he loved saying "no" more and he realized that we understood him.

I bought a plant on Ebay!

I won an auction on ebay today!  I placed a bid for a Curly Spider Plant, it is also known as Bonnie Spider Plant.  I used to have a few of these when we lived in Nevada, but I ended up leaving them behind when we moved.   I hate that I ended up losing my entire collection of plants in our move.

I believe I won an auction for a plant from this vendor before.  My Lemon Lime Philo is doing very well!  Still alive and growing.

As for my Curly Spider Plant, I don't have a home ready for it.  I need to get some potting soil since I have some plants that need to be repotted.

Second Day of Spring Break

Kyle is feeling better these days.  Yesterday, the weather was nice.  I took Kyle outside to play and I took the time to soak up the sun.  I put sunscreen on Kyle and myself anytime we go outside.  There were times when the sun went behind the clouds so it wasn't as hot.  Shannon and I had a chance to sit in the shade, meanwhile Kyle still played near us.

In the evening, Kyle wanted his Dad to throw a soft frisbee, which Kyle loves!  Sometimes he'll want us to throw a softball to him.  He'll wait until the frisbee or ball falls on the ground and then he'll go to pick it up.  Then he runs it back to us and runs back to where he was standing to wait for us to throw the frisbee or ball again.

I am not looking forward to today's weather, it's supposed to get up to 89 degrees today!

Home Sick

We ended up keeping Kyle home from school on Friday (yesterday).  He was coughing throughout the night and I don't think he would have had the strength to be at school.  He even fell asleep early in the evening.  He slept for at least an hour and a half.  When he woke up, he was shaking and looked very weak and tired.  He doesn't have a fever, so that's good.  He's just coughing a lot.

Here's a cute video I just saw: http://purinaanimalallstars.yahoo.com/?v=7231546&l=100000085

Not Feeling Well

Last night and early this morning, Kyle coughed a few times.  When we woke up this morning, I could hear it in his voice/whine that his voice was sounding different.  When he was up, he lay down next to his Dad and just watched TV.  He seemed to tired/weak to get up!  I did take him outside for about 20 minutes.  He wasn't running around today, although it was much hotter outside!

I am hoping he can go to school tomorrow since it's the Friday before Spring Break.  He won't have school all of next week.  Plus they are having an Easter egg hunt tomorrow.  His teacher also said the high school kids made Easter baskets for the preschoolers!  How cute!!!
