Playgroup

"A family is a unit composed not only of children but of men, women, an occasional animal, and the common cold." ~ Ogden Nash

Today was Kyle’s playgroup. We missed last week because the coordinator was sick. Plus we weren’t planning on going since we went to bed so late the night before. Kyle had fun. When we got there, we have to wait in the lobby until the coordinator comes to get us. Well, Kyle was ready to go play right away and wanted to go into the playroom early! So I had to hold him back and distract him with other things until it was time to go play.

One of the others moms really opened up to all of us today. After hearing what she’s going through, I really feel bad for her and I understand how she feels about keeping her family together and making it work. She wants to make her family a family and get married to her son’s dad. She wants that commitment from him. She said they have been together for 5 or 6 years now. She said he’s never home and when he is, he’s at the office. She thinks she’s found evidence of him cheating too. I had so many things going through my head when she was telling me about her man being away from home, but I didn’t voice them. It’s not like she wants to split her family apart, she is trying to make it work but it sounds one-sided. She’s already talked to a lawyer too. Anyway, I feel bad for her having to go through this. She needs to think about her happiness as well as her son’s well being. Her first priority, she said, is her son.

6 times a month

"We will often find compensation if we think more of what life has given us and less about what life has taken away." - William Barclay

I was thinking about how many times we get to leave the house to go anywhere and it only adds up to about 6 times or less a month. Four of the times (or less) are going to Kyle’s playgroup. The other two times are our trips to Walmart to get food and other things.

Time for a Change

"Destiny is not a matter of chance, it is a matter of choice; it is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved." - William Jennings Bryan

I decided to change my business blog link. The blog you are reading now, the link will stay the same.

My new link to my business blog is: http://blissfulgreen.blogspot.com Feel free to visit and leave comments.

Since I changed my link, that meant I had to go change it everywhere else. Very tedious and time consuming. I also had to contact all of my link buddies and let them know.

Surreptitious

"Knowing is not enough, we must apply. Willing is not enough, we must do." - Johann von Goethe

I just checked one of my husband’s email accounts. He had signed an online petition and they emailed him a confirmation email. In the email, he used a word that I have never seen or heard before. Nor did I have any idea what it meant. Who uses this word?! LOL

Here’s his statement: The internet should not be regulated nor surreptitiously monitored.

I know my husband’s vocabulary is extensive, but damn! LOL In the past, I have had him help me write things. For example, I’ve had to write complaint letters and positive letters to companies and he would look it over and add some legalese and such to it.

I looked up the definition and I still don‘t understand what it means. Then I looked up the synonyms, which are: private, secret, sly, sneaking, undercover, hidden…

Here is my fictitious use of the word in a sentence: Her surreptitious conversation with her boss about her out of town meeting, should not have been overheard by her husband.

For the record, I am not checking my husband’s email accounts because I don’t trust him or I think he’s cheating. I check them because he’ll check his emails about once a month, if that. I usually delete any spam and any other unwanted emails to keep it from bouncing. =)

All Caught Up

“To accomplish great things we must not only act, but also dream, not only plan, but also believe.” - Anatole France

I haven’t been in the mood to write any letters so I had to encourage myself to get back into writing. I knocked out 6 letters this weekend. I received 2 letters last week so I have plenty of time to write those. I am just proud of myself for getting them done and plan on mailing them out on Monday.

The only way I can write letters is when Kyle is distracted. So I have learned to turn on one of his favorite movies. His usual movies are either of the 2 Winnie the Pooh movies we have or Cars. We also have Dumbo and Peter Pan, so I am trying to work those in and get him used to those movies. I turned on Dumbo last night and he started crying! LOL I turned on Peter Pan today and he lost interest. I just have to keep turning them on here and there for him to get used to them.

I also realized that I am almost out of stamps so I bought a sheet of forever stamps. I do plan on buying more forever stamps before the price goes up.

I am going to buy more soy candles for myself. I think I deserve it since I never got anything for our anniversary (except 4 bags of peanut M&Ms), and nothing for Valentine’s Day (not even a hug, kiss, or wink and those are all free). Yet my husband decided to donate over $600 to the Ron Paul campaign on the day of Ron Paul’s wedding anniversary to his wife. So if Ron Paul and his wife can get over $600, I think I deserve to spoil myself.

I am still waiting on my other soy candle order from my other company I am with called Country Charm Scents. I can’t wait to try those candles too! I miss burning candles!

Jealousy

“He that is not jealous is not in love.” ~ St. Augustine

“Jealousy injures us with the dagger of self-doubt.” ~ Leslie Grimutter

A few days ago, I actually felt a little jealous. I have not felt this way in several years, especially since I have been married. I am glad I don’t have to date anymore because I do not like feeling jealous.

I showed my husband a video clip of a Big Brother contestant doing a striptease and being silly. He then mentioned that he used to date a girl like that. Now, being married, I do want to hear about the woman of his past, but then again, I don’t. I thought I knew about all of them, but he never gave details. In the end, I found out that they just went out on a few dates and that was it. Nothing MORE! So that’s good to know! That information made me feel better.

I should have FLIPPED him off

We had beautiful weather today so I took Kyle for a walk. Kyle loves going for a walk and being outside so he had fun.

On our way back, this guy cut us off! We were just at his driveway and apparently he couldn’t wait the whole 5 seconds for us to walk by his driveway that he had to cut us off and drive into his driveway. How dare us pedestrians keep him from returning home 5 seconds late! Thank goodness I was holding Kyle’s hand. Kyle could have run out in front of me and into the way of the car. Who knows what could have happened. We live in a very quiet cul-de-sac and there isn’t a whole lot of traffic either. Anyway, I regret not flipping the jerkwad off! He deserved it. I didn’t think about doing that until afterwards. But then again, he lives across the street and a few houses down from us.

When we got back, I gave him his dinner since it was his dinner time.

New Interest

Last night I thought about making my own soy candles. I think it would be really fun to try. I am really nervous and excited at the same time. I am not much of a crafty person so this is a little intimidating but it's something I really want to try. I told Shannon that I want to try making soy candles and he's all for it.

I was doing research on the internet on how to get started and I found a few sites that offer starter kits. I think the starter kit would be the best way to go since I have no idea how where to begin or what to buy, hense the STARTER kit.

I am hoping to try candle making in a few months! I don’t plan on going any further than making them for myself, and possibly family, and friends.

I did find a direct sales business that offers candle making kits. I did a little more research and some former members of this business said this company has very high prices and high shipping costs and it would be better to look elsewhere to buy your supplies. Although, this is a great company to join if you are a newbie and just looking to build your team and make candles. Which is not what I want to do. I don’t want to be spending my time recruiting people. I just want to learn and experiment with making soy candles.

Taxes Are Done!

I just finished doing our taxes and it only took me about 45 minutes to an hour to do. It was free to file too, so that was nice. It looks like we’ll be getting a nice return this year! I can’t wait! I already have a few ideas of what I want to do with the money.

I am just glad I don’t have to worry about doing our taxes anymore.

The Second Interview

My husband just got the call for a second interview tomorrow afternoon at 2:30pm. We are both very excited! He’s really hoping to get this job. It sounds like the perfect job for him!

I’ve been busy with my PTC (paid to click) sites. I joined a new site yesterday. The PTC world is very unstable with the fact that there are scammers out there. So I tend to do my research and read what others are saying. Well the new site I joined is owned by a person known to be honest and pays since he/she already owns a PTC site that I happen to be a member of! So I had no problem joining this site. I got paid from another site of mine and I was excited about that. My next payment will be over $2400! PTC sites aren’t a way to get rich and I am not claiming to be. PTC sites offer extra money, which I wholeheartedly welcome. Plus they are really fun and addicting.

I should be receiving my order from Bath & Body Works today. I used my $25 gift card that I earned from a site I belong to, so my order cost less than $3. I earned that gift card from reading emails and/or through my other online purchases. Shannon is also a member of this site, I signed him up under me! We have earned gift cards from Walmart, Olive Garden, Red Lobster, and Old Navy! We are also signed up with upromise, so I am hoping to do more shopping through them in the near future.

I haven’t been in the mood to write any letters! Ever since I heard about the stamp prices going up again, it really made me upset. I don’t want to give up on pen palling, because I love receiving mail. Plus I like writing letters.

I think we are pretty much ready to file our taxes. I am going to do it online for free, since we meet the qualifications.

Dream Job

My husband had an interview today for a position as a Hotel Manager in a city about 45 minutes away. It sounds like it went very well and he had a good feeling about the interview afterwards. The pay is GREAT, plus there are bonuses. The Area Manager covering that property until they hire a manager said he receives more bonuses, than actual paycheck. This hotel is also very close to the university.

I am not sure about the benefits, but it sounds like they are good, however on the company website it said medical benefits for major medical options. So I am not quite sure what they mean.

He would also be in charge of the property without someone hovering over his shoulder. He would have free reign to take charge of the hotel. They have corporate standards but it is also open for new ideas and such for that property.

It sounds like the perfect job for him and for us. The bonus checks would be fantastic. Shannon is very excited as well as I am. It would indubitably be nice having a steady paycheck coming in again.

The Area Manager seems to want to hire him but Shannon is going to have a second interview with the Area HR Manager, hopefully later this week!

Playgroup!

I remembered Kyle had playgroup today. My whole morning was rushed since I am the one who has to get Kyle ready as well as myself. I made sure he had breakfast. After he was done, I took a quick shower and finished getting ready. Then I had Shannon feed him a quick snack and I ate too. There were 5 other children there, which was nice. Kyle wasn’t bothered by them either. He still played alone and focused on whatever he was doing. Once in awhile he would look at what the other kids were playing with.

One of the moms brought in cupcakes, juice boxes and some cheetos for her son‘s birthday. Kyle just had a few bites of the cheetos and some juice. The other kids loved their cupcakes and cheetos! It was cute to see them eat! They also sent us home with little containers of play doh!

There are a few kids who are Kyle’s age but a few months older. All the other kids talk. As far as sizes, there was one boy who is several months older than Kyle and he looked a little skinner, but taller than Kyle. There was also a little girl who was 2 months old than Kyle and she was bigger than Kyle.

Shannon has a job interview on Monday! This hotel is about 45 minutes away. At least he gets a chance to see each neighboring area around us! LOL This is a very small property and he would be in charge of the operations side of the hotel, if he were to get hired. I am also hoping he’ll get called for an interview with the city jobs he applied for.

He’s ready for drawing

I think Kyle is ready for crayons! For some reason, his father lets him play with pens, even though I have shown him (my husband) my scar of what happened to me when I had a pen in my hands at Kyle‘s age. Anyway, Kyle had a pen in his hand and he figured out that it’s used to scribble things with.

When we were at Walmart a few days ago, I even looked at the art section with crayons and markers. They even had markers that were made for little hands. I didn’t get them for many reasons, including I wasn’t sure if he’d be into drawing.

I hope to get him some coloring books, colored paper, and crayons soon.

AGAIN?!

I read online that the stamps will go up in May to another 1 cent, which means stamps will cost 42 cents! What are they trying to do, kick the snail mailers out of business? It is definitely time for me to stop taking on new pen pals. Unless Shannon finds a job soon, then maybe I could continue like I am. I am thankful for online bill pay as well. Paying my bills online saves me the postage for my letters instead. I already know I cannot afford overseas pals, so I only stick to USA only.

Shannon applied for 2 city jobs today. The application process seems really simple. You can mail, fax or drop off your application before the closing date. If you meet the minimum requirements, your application is forwarded to the hiring department and they call you for an interview. Yesterday I filled out the application to the best of my ability and had Shannon fill in the blanks. To save stamps, I decided to fax the applications in.

Shannon also received an email response from one of the many jobs he applied for online. Shannon just needs to call the person to let them know he is interested. We’ll see how that goes.

“Think Think Think”

It’s about 1:15am as I type this. I tried laying down to go to sleep around midnight but kept thinking about what to buy tomorrow. We’re going grocery shopping tomorrow and I was thinking about what foods to get for Kyle. I realize I need to change his foods around and give him variety since his tastes change from time to time and I know the same thing can get boring. But my choices are limited because I am not much of a cook! LOL I have to think SIMPLE! I definitely have to change his breakfast and lunch foods around a bit. So I was thinking about all of the possibilities.

I also realized that we haven’t been giving Kyle any milk, just juice and water. So this time, we’re only giving him milk or water.

Shannon once pointed out to me that I never get enough food for myself. Since I am the one to think of Kyle's meals, I never have time to think about myself! So I was thinking of food choices for myself.

I also did some job searching online tonight. I found a few company websites as well as stumbled upon a local city job site. I found a city job that Shannon could apply for. I had a feeling he wouldn’t apply for this job because he’d have to fill out the application and mail it in and then take a test. I don’t think he’s privy to the hiring processes of county, city, and state agencies. Tonight, I had to tell him that he really should apply for a city job. I think he would do very well on the test and if he does, he would be the first group of people called for an interview or at least put on the top of the list. I even told him that I would fill out the application for him.

Instead of sleeping, I had to get up and tell him all of this and let him know what I was thinking about, it would put my mind at ease. I also had to tell him when we are going to go grocery shopping tomorrow because he always chooses a time and it doesn’t fit in with Kyle’s schedule, it’s always on HIS time.

Plus, I can’t sleep because I had a good hour nap today! LOL Okay, so now you know what is going on in my never ending mind.

Please, stop by my website, I try to update it as much as I can. I sell mineral makeup, soy candles, a variety of bath and body products! Visit: http://www.ItsYourTurn.go.cc

Pampering Time

Valentine’s Day is next week and I am in the pampering mood. I really do need to relax and spoil myself. I know that we won’t be celebrating so I am spoiling myself, for which I truly deserve!

I got paid from a few of my sites, so I bought some candles yesterday from my new home business. By far, they offer the lowest prices on soy candles that I have seen. Plus they have been online for some time now, and have many happy consultants and customers.

I just checked my balance on one of my sites and I had enough to redeem for a $25 gift card from Bath & Body Works. I haven’t had a product from that store in so long. The last time I recall, Shannon bought my first Christmas gift there. It was our very first Christmas together. He bought me a big beautiful gift basket of everything they had in Vanilla! It was so cute that he bought me a Christmas gift that year, because we had only been dating for a little over a month. I also bought him some gifts that year. I remember I bought him a watch, which he still wears to this day. I also bought him an alarm clock. At the time, he really did need a new one. I still don’t know for sure what I want to get with the gift card. But it will be fun to “shop” for myself, as I barely get to do.

I already have some bath and body goodies, so I plan on using all of them on Valentine’s Day. I hope to take some time by myself and relax. I don’t expect to receive my candles before then, but if I do, that would be great too. I love burning candles and I definitely miss it!

The Naps are Back!

Kyle is back to wanting/needing to take naps. He’s starting to get tired around 3pm everyday. It’s been months since he’s ever taken a nap during the day. It’s nice to get some peace and quiet while he’s asleep.

Today I had to take Kyle for a walk twice. He really wanted to go outside. Luckily it wasn’t raining while we were outside. Today has been overcast and raining here and there. Yesterday, we started to really feel the humidity, which is a big difference from living in Nevada.

My husband is currently at a job interview. This is his second visit to this property and third interview with them. Hopefully they offer him the job he wants. The first time he was there, we were able to talk on the phone after his first interview. He said it was a really nice area! So if it works out, it would be a nice area to move to.

I joined a new home business today! It’s called Country Charm Scents! They offer natural soy candles, bath & body, and more! Their natural soy candles are the lowest prices I have seen. If you are looking for affordable priced gifts and goodies, please check it out! If you want to see the other businesses I represent, please visit my website at http://www.ItsYourTurn.go.cc!

Hopeful of Possibilities

Today I was stressing out about not having health insurance. Kyle and I both need to go to the doctors. Kyle still needs to have his 2 year check up and I need to see a doctor about my menstrual cycle. Today is the 16th day of being on my period. I can feel the effects of the blood loss. Not only that, I don’t eat meat so I don’t have enough iron as it is. This cycle was about 2 weeks late and now I am dealing with this extended period.

I have also been stressing about the job situation. But then today, Shannon got another call back from the hotel he interviewed with a week ago. They want him to come back in for another interview. He’s already interviewed with the General Manager and the Front Office Manager. Now he’s going to interview with the Director of Operations tomorrow afternoon.

I ordered vitamins for Kyle and myself. I also ordered some energizing soy protein for myself, that I can mix in with milk. We started the vitamins yesterday. I bought the infant/toddler vitamins that come in a powder form to mix in his juice or water. He’s also been taking a store brand children’s vitamin.

Lately Kyle hasn’t had much of an appetite. Usually he loves to eat and can’t get enough of it. However, he’s only eating about half or even a quarter of his meals. To fill his tummy, we feed him cheerios or crackers because that’s all he seems to want. So I am glad the vitamins arrived yesterday.
