His First Visit To His New School

Kyle starts school in just a few days!  He will be starting 6th grade at a brand new school, in a new school district.

School Pictures

Kyle had school yesterday and today.  He goes to school tomorrow as well and then he's off until next Monday!  We got his school pictures yesterday!  They look so cute.  He's already changed since they were taken in March.

We went to Walmart today for groceries.  Kyle is crazy for goldfish crackers, so I bought more of those.  I bought him some mac 'n cheese and a block of cheese since he's into cheesey foods lately!  I also bought granola bars, and fruit gummy snacks.  The snacks are mainly for when he gets home from school.  I bought a picture frame to fit the 8x10 picture of Kyle!  The picture looks great in a picture frame!

I've been thinking about going back to school for awhile now.  I finally decided to look further at what courses/programs our local community college offers.  I filled out the FAFSA online and was surprised that it only took about 10-15 minutes to do, even though the website said it could take up to one hour!  Let's hope I get approved for financial aid!  I also applied for the local community college online.  I still have a few more steps to complete, which I plan to finish up this week.

He's Ready, We're Ready

Kyle has school tomorrow!  He seems to be ready to go back and we're even more ready for him to return to school.  There are only about 2 1/2 weeks left.  His teacher said they have his school pictures, so I am excited to get them!  I wasn't sure which package to buy, so I ended up buying the "most popular" one.  I am only keeping one or two pictures and the rest are going to family!

In the last few days, Kyle is "talking" more.  I was holding a diaper yesterday and he said the word (in his own way) and then started signing the word diaper!  Then I asked him. "what is this" (holding the diaper up) and he signed it again.  He's also saying "dad" more as well.  In other words, he's trying to be more interactive with us

All clear, so far!

It's been three days of no vomit!  He still has diarrhea here and there.  He's doing better and his appetite is coming back.  Last night, I thought he was going to throw up because he was "up" but it seems he may have had gas or just not feeling well.  We gave him so saltine crackers and water!  He was better after about an hour and fell back asleep.

We are hoping he can go back to school next week!  He seems to miss it.  There are only about 3 weeks left of school.

Laundry Again!

Last night was a rough night for Kyle.  He woke up vomiting twice over a span of about an hour.  He also had diarrhea twice!  He fell asleep after that hour.  We put him on top of the comforter with a towel under him.

Since Kyle was sick again last night/this morning, we had to do laundry again.  Shannon dropped me off at the laundry mat.  We ended up having 4 loads, just like yesterday.  I had to wash the comforter, sheets, towels, and two loads of clothes.  Shannon took Kyle with him to the post office, he needed to overnight a letter.

Other than that, I didn't mind doing laundry again.  I don't mind going to the laundry mat since there are several machines to use.  They seem to wash our stuff really well, considering how soiled and stinky they are!

Laundry is done!

My MIL ended up going to the laundry mat to do our laundry.  I ended up washing our sheets, comforter, blankets, towels, and a load of Kyle's clothes!!!  The machines at this laundry mat must be industrial size because I could have stuffed them silly with our stuff! They had different sizes of washing machines to choose from.  The washing part didn't take that long, it was the drying.  The dryers don't dry the first or second time around.  We dried our stuff the best we could, we could always dry them at home.

Shannon and I are so glad to have clean towels and sheets!  Kyle isn't looking too good today so he may end up getting sick tonight.   My MIL brought up that he may even have celiac disease.  She used to work with a gal whose son was diagnosed with it.

My MIL wanted to do a little grocery shopping so we went to Bi-Lo!  I ended up buying fruit and a few other things.

One Step Back

After 4 days of no vomit, Kyle ended up vomiting several times this morning.  He woke up around 12:30 AM.  We all didn't fall asleep until 3 AM or so.  We are out of towels, sheets, and blankets and we have a load of clothes to wash.  I have at least 4 loads of laundry to do.  My MIL and I are going to the laundry mat to do our laundry.  It's been raining all night for the last two nights now.  Their septic tank is already backed up.

Kyle woke up around 5:30 AM wanting to eat.  He didn't eat his cereal, instead he wanted me to make a chik'n patty.  He only ate a few pieces when he realized he was feeling sick to his stomach.  We got him to go back to sleep at around 6:30 AM and he woke up around 9:30 AM.  I knew he was hungry but couldn't eat as usual, so I gave him yogurt.

I was disappointed when Kyle threw up this morning.  We were all looking forward to him going back to school!

Haircut

Kyle got a haircut this afternoon!  His grandma gave him a haircut.  It looks cute.  Instead of shaving his head altogether, she was able to trim it.  Daddy had him sit on the kitchen counter where Kyle could watch himself in the mirror.  He got to see his hair being trimmed, which seemed to fascinate him.  I gave him a bath soon after his haircut

Another brand of Mineral Makeup

Last month, I joined another mineral makeup company and with that came a starter kit.  My starter kit arrived yesterday and I was so excited to look through everything I received.  I ended up trying the eye shadows and they feel so smooth and creamy!  It's a big difference from my other mineral makeup.  I no longer have to use my finger tips to blend.  I can't wait to try the foundation and veil.  I also received a blush, which I have never worn before.  I am even tempted to throw away my other brand of mineral makeup, but would hate to waste all that makeup!

100% Better!!

We are 100% better!  We've been feeling better since yesterday!  When I went to make breakfast for Kyle and I yesterday morning, I realized that we were ready to eat cereal!  Kyle ended up having two bowls of cereal!  He's also been wanting mac 'n cheese or ramen noodle soup throughout the day!

We are so happy that Kyle is ready to go back to school!  Unfortunately there is less than a month left of school for the year!  His new school schedule is Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday which we are excited about!

Better than before

Kyle is doing better than previous days.  He and I are still feeling nauseous throughout the day.  He is no longer vomiting as of yesterday!  We still can't eat as much either.  Hopefully this is gone for good before Monday!  We want him to be back to 100% by the time he goes back to school.

Kyle is missing school.  This morning, he grabbed his backpack and put it on!  He's done that a few times this week already.

Day 11 makes up for Yesterday

Yesterday (day 10) ended up being a quiet day of no vomit, except the night before.  It is now Day 11 and it started out with a BANG!  Kyle was up around 3:15 AM doing his usual moaning and I could hear his stomach bubbling and gurgling.  He vomited twice this morning.  Then around 7 AM Kyle woke me up, he had diarrhea!  It was so bad, I had to give him a little bath to wash it all off (which I have had to do a few times this week).

Not only that, my MIL is a little upset that we are using the washer and dryer so often this week.  Their septic tank still isn't working right and it starts to "overflow" when we do too many loads of laundy.  A few months ago, she limited the entire household to doing ONE load of laundry per day.  Since they have laundry and we have laundry, we've been taking turns each day.  Since Kyle is not feeling well, we've had to use the washer all this week [and last week] because we were washing the towels and/or the sheets.  Anyway, I am little upset that she thinks we are using the washer just because!  I don't know about her, but I like to sleep in CLEAN sheets and have clean towels ready for when Kyle throws up!

This morning after Kyle had thrown up, Shannon and I talked about just throwing the towels away and buying a bunch of cheap ones.  The ones we are using now are plain white towels, and are already dingy.  We also want to buy a second set of sheets, just to have one hand.

We are all eating much less than we want to because our stomachs can't handle heavy food.  I can see Kyle is getting skinnier and can see more of his ribs and his stomach is a little sunken in.  He barely ate yesterday so we were hoping he wouldn't throw up this morning.  He is easier to pick up and I can tell he doesn't have as much strength.

This is all so exhausting and frustrating for us.  We can't wait until this is all over.

Virus, Virus Go Away!

Day 10 of Virus

We took Kyle to the doctor yesterday afternoon.  Kyle lost 2 pounds since being sick, he now weighs around 32 pounds.  The doctor never gave the virus a name but he described how Kyle could have contracted this virus.  We think it's the norovirus.  However, we are unsure as to how he contracted it.  He gave us a list of good (bland starchy) foods for him to eat, half of them we already had and others he may possibly eat (since he's so picky about what he wants to eat).

Kyle ended up vomiting last night around 11:30 PM and again about a half hour later.  Shannon and I are feeling a little better.  Every once in awhile we feel nauseous and/or dizzy.  We still can't eat as much as we really want.

Kyle's teacher called just before we had to leave for the doctor appointment.  She wanted to inform me that Kyle must be "throw up free for 24 hours" before he can return to school, which is understandable!

Spoke too soon

Kyle is still not feeling well.  He ended up vomiting this morning at around 1:30 AM.  We waited our usual 1 hour window.  After that, he fell asleep.

Today he was fine and even had a little appetite.  This evening he ended up vomiting!  So far, it's been 7 days of him not being able to keep anything down!

Shannon and I are feeling better than yesterday.  I was able to eat a little here and there, but I also felt nauseous at times and still hurt to stand up.

We don't know how long this will last but we hope it will end soon.  I miss sleeping in sheets through the entire night.

He's better, but...

Kyle is doing better today!  We kept him from school again today.  I was considering having him go but this last week he's been so weak, tired, not eating, and laying on the floor.  Anyway, he didn't wake up this morning - he slept through the night.

Unfortunately Shannon and I now have the stomach bug/flu or it's food poisoning!  Shannon was vomiting this morning (around 12:30 AM).  I woke up with diarrhea and have had it throughout the day today.  I ended up vomiting twice today as well.  I have had to lay down and sleep for most of the day because I feel nauseous.  I can't even stand up straight.  Shannon and I haven't eaten at all today because we're feeling so sick.  Shannon seems to be in better shape than me.  Shannon went to the grocery store and bought us some popsicles and some Pepto Bismol for me.

Kyle's teacher called this afternoon.  She suggested that he start coming to school on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday instead of Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.  That way, he'll have consistency with school.  She also said she hopes he's feeling better! We hate that Kyle misses so much school from being sick, but I am glad we kept him home today!  We weren't sure how he would be today.  He hasn't eaten much at all today.

My in-laws returned from their vacation this afternoon.

It happened again

Kyle woke up this morning around the same time as the night before, around 1:30 AM.  He was whining  and eventually threw up!  He ended up throwing up/dry heaving 3 times!  It's always around the same time and lasts no more than an hour.  He fell asleep around 2:30 AM - 3 AM.  I didn't fall asleep until I knew he was okay and sleeping peacefully.

We're not sure what is going on but we still think it's a stomach bug or stomach flu.  He doesn't have a cough or fever.  Depending on how he does tonight, I hope he can go to school tomorrow.

Since my sleep is disturbed, I have been feeling exhausted when I wake up in the morning!

My in-laws return home tomorrow.  Hopefully Kyle will be all better by then!

What a night/morning!

Around 1:30 AM this morning, Kyle sat up, choked/coughed and threw up!  Shannon attended to Kyle and I removed the sheets to see what could be salvaged to where he and I could go back to sleep.  Shannon set up the bed to where Kyle and I could lay back down and put the sheets in the washer.  While he was doing that, Kyle ended up throwing up again!  Within a 45 minute time span, Kyle threw up 4 times.

Kyle had school today but we are keeping him home today.  I had to wake up and call the school by 7 AM or so.

I have more laundry to do today just to make sure everything is clean!

Left Today

My in-laws left for their vacation yesterday morning.  They were gone less than an hour when they returned home.  My FIL was unable to drive due to his arm and hands were hurting, which stems from his back injury.  So they had to come back home because his arms were shaking.

They ended up leaving today.  He's off of work for the next two weeks, so we're not even sure when they are coming back.

Kyle went to school today.  We talked about keeping him home today because we weren't sure if he still had the stomach bug.  He did throw up on Sunday afternoon.  He was able to eat dinner on Sunday and he was just fine after wards!

At least we'll have clean sheets

Kyle woke up earlier than usual, especially for a non-school day.  I think he woke up around 6:15 AM, I am not too sure of the exact time considering I didn't want to open my eyes until 6:40 AM.  He and I had breakfast together just like we always do.  He wanted to have a snack around 9:30 AM.  Kyle fell asleep around 10:30 AM and slept for at least an hour to an hour and a half.  When he woke up, I could tell something was wrong.  He had pink cheeks and he was warm to the touch.  Plus he still seemed tired!  Shannon didn't agree, he said it was hot in the bedroom.  Luckily Kyle didn't have a fever.  Kyle was really tired and just wanted to be held or be near me.  He ended up throwing up on our comforter and sheets.  I gave him a bath while Shannon put the comforter in the wash.

Kyle seemed better after his bath and even had a snack. About an hour after he had another snack, he ended up throwing up again, this time on the sheets.  Luckily the sheets hadn't been washed yet.  I gave Kyle another bath and let him play in the water a little longer than usual.  So far, we've been taking it easy.  We think he has a stomach bug since he seems to look sick after eating.

Tonight, I gave him something to eat and he ate a few bites of brown rice and a little bit of dry cereal.  Let's hope he feels better soon.

I applied for another job online today.  It's the same job I applied for last year.  A lot of the jobs I am applying for are ones I applied for last year, although some are not.  I plan on turning in my application for Dairy Queen on Monday while Kyle is in school.

My in-laws are leaving for their vacation tomorrow.  It will be nice to have the whole house to ourselves for a few nights.  I've been holding off on doing our laundry since I wanted to give my MIL a chance to do all her laundry before they leave.  I plan on catching up on our laundry while they are gone.
