I am so ready for 2013! I am looking forward to a new and fresh start!
Tomorrow is my 10th Wedding Anniversary! I cannot believe we've made it this far! We share the same values about life, love and marriage. We just click.
Kyle's birthday is on January 3rd. He will be 7 years old. He has learned so much over the past year. He loves to imitate our gestures and words. He also loves to watch Barney as well as many Disney movies. He loves to dance and be silly, especially if we are the ones dancing and being silly along with him.
What is Crunchy? "Green;" environmentally-friendly. I love green cleaning and making my own laundry soap!
His First Visit To His New School
Kyle starts school in just a few days! He will be starting 6th grade at a brand new school, in a new school district.

Happy Birthday, birthday boy!
Happy 6th Birthday to my son! I can't believe he is 6 years old. Where has the time gone?
Yesterday, Shannon and I gave him a hair cut and he look so cute. He wasn't as squirmy as in the past. He was a little better with sitting still and not moving. He seems used to it but still finds it ticklish.
Today is also the first day of school of the new year and after the Christmas holiday!

Happy Birthday!
Today is Shannon's Birthday! We had a busy day. First, we had an IEP (individual education plan) Meeting at noon at Kyle's school. The meeting lasted about 45 minutes. Afterward, Shannon and I went to Walmart for groceries! I am so glad we have food again. We haven't been to Walmart in at least 3 or 4 weeks, but we did go to BJ's Warehouse a few weeks ago. I bought some protein bars to eat after my workouts. I am still trying to find a suitable whey protein shake for after my workouts! Right now, I am using one I bought from Walmart and I am not sure if I like it or not. I also bought avocados! I was intending on keeping the seeds to plant in some soil. However, I couldn't find any pots at Walmart, instead they have Christmas stuff in the Garden Center. They had the soil I wanted, but decided to wait to get that. Hopefully we can go to Lowe's or The Home Depot to get my garden supplies.
After Kyle arrived home from school, my MIL and I went to Dairy Queen and bought an ice cream cake for Shannon's birthday! We bought an 8 inch cake and it was really good. It was made with chocolate ice cream and chocolate cookie crumbles. There was vanilla ice cream where the icing would be and it was so good. Icing is usually so sweet and not very good but there was ice cream there instead. Last year we bought an ice cream cake from Baskin Robbins and it wasn't as good as this one! Dairy Queen sure knows how to make ice cream cake! Kyle saw the cake right away and of course, he wanted to eat it right then. He loved it, he loves ice cream!
Thanksgiving is next week and my in-laws decided to buy their dinner from Whole Foods instead of cooking that day! Even though the closest Whole Foods is in Winston-Salem (which is about 35-45 minutes away), they are going to drive out there to pick it up on Thanksgiving! They brought home a copy of the menu for us to choose what to get. My MIL chose a turkey breast and 3 side dishes. I am getting the "vegan meal for one." We are also getting sushi since Shannon loves it! My MIL is getting the pie from Cracker Barrel. Hopefully Kyle will eat some of the food, he's so picky, we never know what he'll eat.

His birthday

Today is Shannon's birthday!
My MIL and I went to get him an ice cream cake yesterday afternoon. First, we went to Food Lion (local grocery store) and they had ice cream cake, but the cakes didn't have the "cake" part, just ice cream with a thin layer of frosting as the border. It was basically ice cream with frosting. So we went to Baskin Robbins/Dunkin' Donuts to get an ice cream cake and thankfully they had some pre-made! We ended up getting one with oreos on top with cookies and cream ice cream inside. Since we were there, we both got a small ice latte! It was really good!
This afternoon, I ended up making an ice latte at home. It was pretty easy! All it takes is ice, milk (I use soy milk), coffee, sugar, a bit of vanilla extract (optional), and whip cream (optional)!

Happy Birthday!

Today is my birthday! I am having a good day. I started my morning with a big smile from Kyle just as I was waking up!
Last night, I filled out the employment application for the County Job! I mailed out my application in today's mail! I am crossing my fingers and toes hoping I get a call back!
I found a really cute and funny wedding video that is all over the internet!

My Birthday

My birthday is coming up this Friday! I can't believe it's almost here!
I am trying to convince my husband to take me to Chili's, since they are having a 3 course meal for 2 for only $20! What a bargain! Applebees is having something similar but they are only offering 2 courses for $20!

Three years ago today, our son, Kyle was born! Our little boy is officially 3 years old!

Three years ago today, Kyle was born about a week early. I was supposed to start my one week vacation from my job at the time. I had planned to clean the house, do laundry, and finish packing my overnight hospital bag. I wanted to get everything ready for his arrival. Since I never had the chance to finish packing, we literally just scooped everything up and brought it with us to the hospital that morning.
Yesterday, I asked Shannon what tomorrow is and his answer was, "Uh, Saturday." LOL I said, "It's YOUR SON'S BIRTHDAY!"
To our son, Kyle ~

Stressful Week
It’s been a stressful week for us. Shannon was laid off on Monday, but they did offer him another position at lower pay. Shannon also talked to the General Manager on Tuesday and he is going to send his resume to another hotel that is being built right across the street. The General Manager said he can’t promise anything, but we are thankful he offered to help. Meanwhile, Shannon said he is still looking for other jobs. I am glad he isn’t applying for one job at a time and wait for them to respond before applying for other jobs, like he has in the past!
Shannon did the math to figure out his new wage versus how much our bills are and it‘s not pretty. We’ll be making $600 less each month!!!!!! We decided we are going to apply for food stamps. I have the application all filled out, I just need Shannon to fill out a few things and then I am going to mail it in on Monday.
We had to wait until Thursday night (when direct deposit went through) to buy groceries because there wasn’t enough in the bank.
Shannon’s birthday is tomorrow. He bought a video game with tip money he received earlier this week. He also bought me some business supplies earlier this week.
For the last month or so, I’ve been unplugging the microwave when not in use. I just got our electric bill and it went down $9! I know it wasn’t from the microwave itself, rather it was mostly because our weather was so mild during that time so we didn’t have to use the AC or the heater.

Time Flying By
This month will mark the one year anniversary of us living in North Carolina. I am amazed that it’s been a year! Kyle has grown so much in the past year. When we left Nevada a year ago, Kyle was about 22 months old. He didn’t like being in the car for long periods of time during our drive here. But by the last few days of our trip here, he learned that he could fall asleep in the car. Now he LOVES riding in the car. He loves looking out the window and seeing everything.
Shannon’s birthday is also this month!
I finally heard back from Kyle’s doctor about a hearing test and they scheduled it for us but I ended up having to cancel it. Shannon’s work schedule isn’t set, it changes every week. So I will have to reschedule.
We went to Chuck E. Cheese this week and Kyle was just not into it. He was overwhelmed by all the lights, music, and noise. He did ride a few of the little rides but he wasn’t into that either. Shannon played a few of the games there with Kyle. We’re thinking next time, we’re going to a park to let Kyle run around.

Two Years Ago Today!
Two years ago today our little son was born! Today is our son’s 2nd Birthday! Happy Birthday Baby Boy!
You have changed our lives for the better.
You are our natural alarm clock and wake us up at around 7am every morning!
You demand attention and play and we are rewarded with smiles and laughter. We are inspired to try more healthy choices in foods, because of you.
You encourage us to get out and love taking Mom for walks. You love playing with Dad in the backyard.
You make those messes only for us to clean them up.
What would our life be without you?
