His First Visit To His New School

Kyle starts school in just a few days!  He will be starting 6th grade at a brand new school, in a new school district.

Happy Easter!

Today is Easter!  We didn't do anything to celebrate today.  The last thing I want in the house is candy!  Kyle did receive some plastic eggs with candy in them and he dyed some eggs at school.  He brought home a plastic bucket with his Easter eggs!

Yesterday, we drove out to Winston-Salem and drove around the area!  It's a huge city that Shannon took the wrong freeway (he was supposed to take Business 40 and not Interstate 40).  Anyway, when we took Interstate 40, it brought us to the other side of the city and there's a Wake Forest University campus on that side but it's the Medical Center, not the Law School.  We ended up stopping at Hanes Mall for about 15 to 20 minutes.  I walked around JC Penney with Kyle and he didn't like it.  He took me for a walk instead of the other way around.  He's used to being in a shopping cart while we are in the store and this time he had to walk.  He likes routine and when it doesn't work out the way he wants, he gets nervous and can have a tantrum/freak out.  So I took him outside since he was going to start crying and freaking out.  We tried to comfort him after we got him back in the car but it didn't work.  We drop around a little more and finally found the right exit.  We drove through Wake Forest University and it is so pretty!  The drive is all tree lined, so there's mostly shade on the campus.  We ended up getting out and letting Kyle play on the baseball field.  He would run down the little hill towards the field and slide on his legs to the bottom getting his pants legs wet and covered with grass!  We let him play for about 10 minutes and after that, he completely forgot about being upset.

We saw 3 apartment complexes but two of them are completely out of our price range!  The first one we saw is nice and clean looking and affordable for us.  I wouldn't mind living there.

On our way out of Winston-Salem, we ended up going to Clemmons.  About a year ago, my in-laws found a little community that they really liked and wanted to move to.  This community is right next to a grocery store and a few other stores.  It's the perfect place for us.  It is really affordable, but you have to buy the place, unless you find someone who will rent to you.

Unfortunately, Section 8/Public Housing is closed to new applications for the county of Winston-Salem, so we can't even apply!

She hasn't called you back?!

I called Speakability again today since it's been almost a week since I called to leave a message with the person who answered the phone.  The lady that answered today even remembered that I called before!  She sounded surprised that "what's her name" hadn't returned my call!  So I left my information again, let's see if she'll call me.

Kyle went to school today!  I sent him to school with an order for his school pictures.  I ordered their "most popular package" since it was so hard to decide, plus it was at a decent price.  He came home with an easter basket that was made by the local high school students!  It has more toys than candy, which is good!  One of the toys was bubbles, so I took that out and played with Kyle.  He LOVES bubbles!  He loves trying to pop them!  I took him outside to play with them but it was windy so the bubbles were going in every direction too fast for him.  I'll have to wait another day until there is little to no wind.

Shannon received his last shipment of LSAT study materials he ordered.  He's been reading through his books since he received them.  He officially registered to take the LSAT in early June!!!  I am so glad that the books are giving him so much confidence!  They are full of tips and methods to help take the test. He wanted to register as early as he could for the test in June because there are only a certain number of spots available to take the test.  If they are all gone, he would have to wait until the next one.

I've been wanting to try a different type of workout using kettlebells.  I saw an infomercial for "kettleworx" and after reading the reviews on amazon, they were mixed.  They were saying he doesn't show the correct way to do the exercises AND he doesn't do the same amount of reps on each side of the body.  For example, he'll work the right arm 23 times and the left arm 19 times.  Some people were bothered by that, which I can understand.  I found that QVC sold kettleworx, but while looking at it, I saw someone mention another program called "kettlenetics."  I looked further at the product and found that it was customer top rated which told me something.  I ended up getting that set to start with!  I was impressed with the QVC price and what you get with the set!

Back to School

Kyle went back to school today!  He was out of school for over a week!  It was nice to have him at school!  I am a little disappointed that they didn't save an Easter basket or easter eggs for him.  We had sent him to school with a big bag of easter eggs and 3 bags of candy for the kids and he received none of it!

A few weeks ago, they took pictures at school and they sent an envelope home with a sample picture of how they turned out.  He looks so cute in his picture!  Now we just have to decide which package to buy!  I don't know how they got him to sit still long enough to take his picture!  LOL

I received half of my order from Walmart today.  I ordered some colorful short sleeved tops, which I need for summer.  The only short sleeved tops I have are all blue, and they were from when I was working at Walmart!  I am waiting for the other half of my order, which should arrive tomorrow.

Shannon is getting ready to take the LSAT test.  He's aiming to take it in June.  He ordered some study materials and some of them arrived today.

I am still waiting for the plant I won on ebay to arrive, it looks like it will arrive tomorrow.  I am ready to pot up my new plant in a permanent home!

Not Feeling Well

Last night and early this morning, Kyle coughed a few times.  When we woke up this morning, I could hear it in his voice/whine that his voice was sounding different.  When he was up, he lay down next to his Dad and just watched TV.  He seemed to tired/weak to get up!  I did take him outside for about 20 minutes.  He wasn't running around today, although it was much hotter outside!

I am hoping he can go to school tomorrow since it's the Friday before Spring Break.  He won't have school all of next week.  Plus they are having an Easter egg hunt tomorrow.  His teacher also said the high school kids made Easter baskets for the preschoolers!  How cute!!!

He went home early

I packed Kyle's backpack with the 3 bags of candy and plastic eggs. He got ready and got on the bus without a problem. A little over an hour after school started, Kyle's teacher called and said he was crying, she wasn't sure if he had a temperature, so she took him to the office and he didn't. They weren't sure if he was coming down with something. Every time Kyle gets sick, it sneaks up on us and we don't realize it until we SEE it, since he can't TELL us he isn't feeling well. After I got off the phone with her, I decided to workout. About 15 minutes into my workout, the teacher called again and said he may have a toothache and he was still crying/whining. So we had to go pick him up!

When we got home, I gave him something to eat. Then we went outside for nice fresh air. I soaked up the sun and still trying to slowly get a tan. I put sunscreen on both Kyle and myself as well.

He seems fine now that we're home and he's eaten. We're just going to pay attention to see if he's coming down with something. His grandparents have been sick for the last week or so.

Shannon and I both talked about Kyle needing more one-on-one attention. We can't afford a special school, so I called his speech therapist from last July about setting him up with speech therapy again. We had to stop last year because our Medicaid was cut-off. Since we're back on Medicaid, we need to get him into speech therapy. He does have speech therapy at school, but it's only one day a week and it's in a group setting. Plus, we have no idea what they are working on!

Sunscreen, Easter Stuff, and Smoothies

We went to Walmart this [late] afternoon. I bought sunscreen for Kyle and myself. I also bought some to use on my face. Today I spent about 30 minutes outside soaking up the sun! It was nice and sunny, so I took advantage to hopefully get a little tan. During that time, Kyle had a chance to get some fresh air and play outside.

I also picked out a blue Easter basket for Kyle. We ended up getting 3 bags of candy and a bag of plastic eggs. Hopefully Kyle will have fun with all the other kids "finding" the eggs!

We saw all the Twilight merchandise such as books, clothing, CDs, and movies! It was tempting to look but I am saving my amazon gift cards to buy the books on amazon. I am looking at getting the 3 books in a "hardcover collection" package.

I've decided to start making "fruit and veggie smoothies" for Kyle. He's not really eating much these days. I bought bananas, strawberries, oranges, and spinach for the smoothies. I made a smoothie when we got home and Kyle took one sip and made the "eww" face! LOL I made it with fruit and spinach. I think I used too much fruit and it turned out too thick! But I'll keep trying.

Spring Break

This is Kyle's last week of school before he has Spring Break next week! I can't believe Spring Break is here so fast! The teacher sent a notice home with Kyle saying that they are having an Easter Egg hunt on Thursday and Friday (Kyle will be there on Friday) and to send him to school with an empty Easter basket! She also asked for extra candy and plastic eggs, not required, but requested. We're going to get Kyle an Easter basket and send him to school with extra plastic eggs filled with candy!

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter!

My mother-in-law wanted to get some toys and an Easter basket for Kyle and she tried going shopping on Friday, but the stores were packed! I told her she could go the day after Easter, Kyle wouldn't know the difference. He's happy with what he has now. He doesn't know what Easter is, he would just enjoy playing with the basket and toys more than anything else. LOL

Update:

My mother-in-law and I went to the grocery store and ended up buying food to barbeque with! She also wanted to get some fruit. My father-in-law went to buy the barbeque they picked out! So we had some grilled veggies, meat, and hamburgers. Yummy! It all tasted really good. Even Kyle had a few bites of corn on the cob! It was surprising to see him actually eat the corn. It was a nice Sunday. It was a little uncomfortable with my father-in-law because he was really grumpy, his back is hurting and in pain. I warned Shannon about it and he said it rubbed off on him.

So now I am watching Kyle so Shannon can have some alone time. Kyle is watching some educational kid shows.

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter! My Mother-in-Law bought a little easter basket and plastic easter eggs for Kyle. Kyle had his first Easter egg hunt today! He was so cute. He was more interested in the basket. My Mother-in-Law would show him the eggs and put it in the basket and Kyle would take it out and put it back on the ground! LOL Once we brought him back inside, he had all the eggs in the basket and he kept taking the eggs out of the basket and putting them back in. So he got the hang of it after the egg hunt. He’s been playing with his easter basket and eggs all day. He wasn’t that interested in the candy inside the eggs at all either. He really likes playing with the eggs and the basket.

We also went grocery shopping and stocked up on food for the next few weeks. Shannon also bought Dryel for his suits. I bought more vitamins, a two pack of toothbrushes and toothpaste for Kyle.

Shannon is getting his suits and shirts ready for tomorrow. He also unpacked his undershirts and socks. Shannon bought 2 new suits, new leather shoes, 2 ties, and a dress shirt yesterday.

We had such an eventful weekend that I am exhausted. I have laundry to do this week. I also plan on cleaning while Shannon is at work. It will give me something to do, rather than worry about him.

On Monday, Shannon is going to turn in our application for the apartment that we saw on Friday! They will know the same day if we are approved or not. We really loved the location and the apartment itself. Everything we need is within 20 minutes away. There is even a huge shopping mall nearby.

It won’t be hard to move, since a majority of our stuff is still packed. We are going to rent a U-Haul this time. Once we get moved in, we’ll just have to worry about unpacking and figuring out where everything goes.

We have also been talking about what we need to buy after moving in. We hope to buy a washer and dryer right away. Then we need a new bed. So many things are on our list! We just can’t wait to move into our own place!

Easter Event: Can we go?

I would love for us to take our son to see the Easter Bunny! He doesn’t know what the Easter Bunny is but I think it would be a nice family thing to do. I did a search for Easter events in our city and I found an Easter Egg hunt for kids 1 to 9 years old. They are broken down into age groups so the 9 year olds aren’t stepping over the little ones. The little ones will have a chance to “look” for eggs.

They will have food, goodies, and giveaways after the Egg Hunt so it sounds like fun. Also, the whole event is free.
